The famous, or should I say infamous, John M. Compton, the better half of our illustrios leader Gloria, has turned 70 years old on Friday, May 28th. How can that be? When I first met Mr. Compton at BSHS in the fall of 1963, he was a brand new teacher, just graduated from Transylvania University (I think it was a college then) of 23 years old. My how times fly! Happy 70th Birthday Mr. Compton. You can call John to express your sympathy (I'm sorry, best wishes) @ 299-7600.

Congratulations are in order for two current senior students. Lucy Arthur-Paratley has been awarded the University of Kentucky's Otis Singletary Scholarship. This award is the number one scholarship at UK-it covers the cost of tuition, room and board, and a yearly stipend for four years of undergraduate study. Transylvania University's William T. Young Scholarship has been awarded to Zoe Snider. The Young Scholarship is the most prestigious award offered by Transylvania-it covers tuition and the general fee for four years of undergraduate study. Both prestigious awards from both local universities to Bryan Station Seniors! WOW! Kudos to both from all of us out here in DEFENDERLAND!

I just happened to stumble on the BSAA site today. It took me back to the time when I taught English from 1961-65 while my then husband (Charles Quindry) was in law school at U.K. Other young teachers at that time were Gloria Knuckles and John Compton, who I see are active in the Alumni Association. It would be great to hear from any of the past teachers or students as I have fond memories of those days.

Sharon Hunter, Class of 73Posted at 5:42 pm on 1-14-10
All students of Bryan Station High School need to unite. We have had a Defender sign at the corner of Winston and Paris Pike since before I graduated in 1973. Now its gone because some bus driver(s) couldn't see around it. What about all the past bus drivers. PUT THE SIGN BACK. Send emails to Dr. Peoples and Mr. Silberman. PUT THE SIGN BACK.

Anon, It appears you have a chip on your shoulder for some ungodly reason, however, everyone cant be as smart as you are. All students who graduated from BSHS are not cut out for college, for varius reasons, which may be due to their economic status in life, the lack of the required academic skills, or other reasons too numerus to mention, you name it. To bad mouth the school and students is not the right thing to do. I finished BSHS in 1965, and had to deal with the ole ugly head of RACISM, but I made it, went on to college, played baseball and basketball and was very successful. I had a very successful career in Corporate America, retired from there and finally taught school and will retire from that avocation by year end. I plan to move back to Lexington by year end. Get the chip off your shoulder and the wild hair out of you nose and be a man rather than something I will not say. Be proud that you attended BSHS and move on. Stop talking about the studetns as loud, obnoxious and inferior. because they may be in a position to say the same thing about you. Grow up and be a better person than you are displaying. EASE ON DOWN THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD>

Anon 2009, Class of 2001Posted at 11:53 am on 5-20-09
Good riddance Bryan Station. Aka. Ghetto high. Loud, obnoxious and inferior people. 85% of people were thugs. How funny it is to see you working at Kroger and Walmart. How nice it is to have you change the oil in my car.

Reggie, Class of 85Posted at 4:30 am on 5-4-09
This is a message for Mr. J. Morris, the circumstances surrounding your time at Bryan Station SOUND unfortunate. Bryan Station Sr. High was and still a great school. It has prepared many people for successful lives. This includes a lot of your classmates. So to out Bray Station in a negative way in any form is wrong!!! Take what happened to you and make it a positive in your life. Sounds like you are on your way at this point .I know Bryan Station showed you how to be a strong individual. Use that and move on.

MARY CARTER, Class of 210Posted at 6:37 am on 5-1-09

Jason Morris, Class of 2000Posted at 3:22 pm on 4-18-09
I would have been class of 2000 but i was wrongfully accused of making bomb threats at the school ( only one person accused me of this yet evidently that was enough) so I was expelled from fayette county schools for one years time. It was a big ordeal and controversy since, i never did what i was accused of and all my friends told people i would never do such a thing. the school went through major changes that year, eventually becoming a traditional magnet school. When i was there, you could purchase drugs, get rocks thrown aat you and get called a fag with little to nothing done about it. But if one white girl doesnt like you, all it took was a lie to ruin your high school life... For what its worth, I went to a private school which only offered AP classes and a GPA system of 5.0 instead of 4.0 I am a manager of a major retail chain and am also a writer. Currently working on my autiobiography to be publish through Harper Collins. BryanStation is sure to be upset when it sees the chapter about my freshman school year there... myspace.com/geziskryst
